The hail we received was 1" to 1.5" in diameter, but the majority of the observed hail stones were ovoid in shape and flattened. Some actually look somewhat like little ice kolaches, but without the filling. My husband grew up in our current home, and we have been coming here since getting married almost 44 years ago. Neither one of us has witnessed or are aware of hail 1.5" falling here. Buckets of rain in straight line winds, yes, but 1.5" ovoid semi-consolidated hail "kolaches", that's something new. Woohoo. |
