Notes: The observation of this hailstorm was made at the following coordinates: 43.553060 Latitude, -84.250770 Longitude (E Martin Ct, Midland, MI). Rain and hail began at roughly 9:30pm, with the hail falling harder than the rain, then rain and hail mixed before ending by roughly 9:45pm. It was observed that a quick drop in air temperature occurred while the hail was falling. The most common hailstone size was 1" in diameter, however there were many hailstones as small as ½" and several were as large is 2" in diameter, which is near or slightly larger than golf ball size. Also, most of the hail was hard, white, and spherical, however there were some stones mixed in that were bumpy, jagged, and clear in nature. Minor accumulations of hail occurred and shoveling was necessary to remove it from the driveway. Immediately after the conclusion of the hailstorm, it became noticeably foggy. This was likely due to the downdraft of the thunderstorm tugging cold air aloft down to the surface, fully saturating the already moist, and somewhat humid airmass in place. At 10pm in the dark, it was difficult to determine if any damage had occurred, but the next morning in full daylight, it was discovered that the hail had caused multiple dents in a car parked in the driveway.
