Description:
This report is for the month of January 2023. The month of January ended with slightly above average precipitation. To date we have had 4.47 inches of rain. The monthly average is 3.69 inches. The total number of days with precipitation for the month was 17. The most rain recorded for a 24 hr period was 0.97 inches, which occurred on the 12th. Most of the rain has been slow and steady with not much runoff. Rivers and streams are at full pool for the most part. The soil is saturated with puddles forming in the yard and sidewalk with every little shower. We have only had 0.8 inches of snow this month, which is almost 10x less than January 2022 at 8.9 inches. Overall, the average temperature for January 2023 was 10 degrees warmer than January 2022. The average high was 52°F, compared to 42°F for January 2022 and the average low was 35°F, compared to 25°F for January 2022. The highest temperature of the month was 66°F, which occurred on the 3rd. The lowest temperature of the month was 17°F. Have a couple of bird feeders out that I only have to fill every 4 or 5 days. Deer that I have seen seem to be in good condition. The 6-pointer and other lesser bucks that I saw in the fall made it through deer season and haven’t lost their antlers yet.
